MUSIC TO SUPPORT UKRAINE: Avant-pop artist NICK HUDSON releases ‘Lights Svoboda’
As the war in Ukraine rages on, I have admiration for those folks who are doing what they can to help better this dire situation. Today I have the pleasure of introducing NICK HUDSON (of THE ACADEMY OF SUN), a UK-based artist whose new single'Lights/Svoboda' is out today. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to two charities carrying out humanitarian work on the ground - Red Cross Ukraineand Razom For Ukraine - each of them covering slightly different areas of aid. Revolut Bank will also match contributions to Red Cross Ukraine over the next week.
Recorded between Manchester and Brighton, Hudson says, "The opening features a recording I made in Georgia, into my Soviet cassette recorder, of my 20-year-old Russian exile friend who fled to Georgia to avoid facing criminal charges for protesting Navalny’s imprisonment. I had him say “freedom, hope and truth” in Russian. He’s headed to join the Ukrainian army this week." JULIAN COPE calls Hudson's music "highly fucking beautiful" and MOGWAI's STUART BRAITHWAITE notes that he is among "the most exciting musicians currently operating in the UK".
We can all do something to support Ukraine and in effect, the free world. You can share this song out - it's topical, the message is strong, the funds are going to help those in great need in the most devastating war Europe has seen since World War Two. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE support Nick Hudson and Ukraine in this regard - new music features, airplay, reviews, playlisting, mixtaping, social media sharing, interviews and other features are all appreciated. You can also contribute / donate / share the news about how folks can support humanitarian effforts and build awareness about this dire situation.
